Wow, what an amazing Summer Solstice full of magic and celebration. I was so blessed to be together with my partner and friends to invite the new energies of summer with dance, music and ritual.
How do you celebrate Summer Solstice?
The wheel of the year is turning. Some folks are being blasted with heat waves while those of us higher north along the coast are being gifted with some rainy days ahead. In the ways of some of our ancestors, the marking of summer was a blessings. Solstice means “the sun stands still”, and the people before saw this as a magical day of light when the masculine unites with the feminine. It’s a time when the energy of the fairies, the plants, the earth are all very active.
How do you connect to the magic or energy of Solstice?
As summer peaks, our energy rises, our spirit’s strengthen, and our souls and hearts ignite with pleasure. We think we can do it all (we think), adding more to our daily juggling act. We want to get the most out of our days, filling it with all kinds of to dos, or must sees. I myself have many things I would like to experience this summer, but I am reminded to take things as they come and to continue cultivating nourishing qualities. In the intensity of the summer we can often get carried away and forget to tend ourselves, spinning, exploring, seeking.
What plans do you have this summer?
There are many ways for one to nourish themselves, I feel especially in the summer! Simple activities that reconnect the relationship to our body, clear our mind, and strengthen your spirit are limitless. Going to the beach, jumping into the ocean, going for a walk in the woods, playing outside with bubbles or massages.
